How Do I Get Back Into a Workout Routine After Summer?

The backpacks are packed. Practices are starting. Calendars are filling up again.

And after a summer of vacations, kids home, late nights, weird schedules and basically no routine...maybe you're ready for a little structure again too.

Back-to-school season isn't just a reset for the kids. It can be a really good time to reset your routine.

But here's my advice: don't try to overhaul everything on Monday.

Pick two classes.

Seriously. That's it.

Look at your week and find two times that actually work. Maybe it's an early morning class before everyone else is moving. Maybe it's after school drop-off. Maybe evenings are finally yours again.

Put those two classes on your calendar just like you would a practice, appointment or meeting.

Then show up.

You don't need the perfect workout plan. You don't need to suddenly exercise five days a week. You need to create a routine you can actually repeat.

And sometimes having a class, a teacher and a room full of people expecting to see you makes that a whole lot easier.

At Gypsy Rising, we have Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Sculpt, Chair Yoga and strength-based classes throughout the day because we know everyone's schedule—and everyone's starting point—looks different.

The kids have their schedule. Maybe it's time to put something on the calendar for you, too.
